A family home situated in Richmond sits on a road of experimental “restrained moderne” 30’s, with curved crital steel windows in the front of the property and pitched roofs. The new addition to the building sough influence by the existing building using corbeled lime-washed brick white and render to site alongside the existing property.

The project sought to thermally upgrade the existing building by installing new double and triple-glazed windows as well as internal insulation.

A central island in the kitchen is created with reference to the existing curved bay window at the front of the property. Due to its location within a large open-plan living and dining area, it was important to ensure that the kitchen could be shut off when not being used.

A large oak pivot door site between the kitchen and the front room dividing or combining the two spaces.
